About Me

I’m Fergus, a Security Engineer with over a decade of experience across software engineering, DevOps, and information security.

My technical roots are in Go, Python, and PHP, with hands-on infrastructure experience in Terraform and cloud-native environments. Outside work, I can often be found making or breaking something - be it at a keyboard or in the garage.

I also hold a voluntary position supporting vulnerable individuals, which has developed my understanding of risk assessment, safeguarding, and decision-making under uncertainty—skills that complement my professional focus on managing risk in technical systems.

I write here about information security, software engineering, and occasionally electronics.

Fergus has over a decade of experience working within the SaaS industry, where he's undertaken both Software Engineering and Information Security roles in a variety of sectors including Financial, Medical and Marketing.
